We know buying Cannabis for the first time can be overwhelming, and we’re here to help!
Before you make your first purchase, consider the following question: How do you want to feel after consuming? Energetic or mellow? Also consider what method of consumption you’re most comfortable with. If smoking isn’t for you, perhaps edibles or vaping is a better fit for your lifestyle.
Learning the “Cannabis Lingo” may be a little daunting at first but understanding the variety of cannabinoids and terpenes in each strain will help you with your first purchase, we call this the Cannabis Chemistry. Together, this chemistry creates the different effects you will experience from one strain of cannabis to the next. THC is the most common cannabinoid in cannabis and is thought to be largely responsible for the “high” user’s experience. CBD is the slightly less common cannabinoid that can deliver some of the same therapeutic effects as THC, like relaxation and pain relief, without any intoxicating effects. As a beginner, you’ll want to “start low, and go slow”. This means choosing a product with low – moderate THC percentage, and being mindful of how much you are consuming. If you are buying dried flower to smoke or heat in a vaporizer, you will probably want to stick with a strain that is lower in THC (under 15 percent) and higher in CBD. If you would rather avoid the smoke, ingestible oils and capsules are some great options, just be sure to start with low THC products, especially because when digested, the effects of cannabis can last much longer than from smoking.
When you’re ready to consume Cannabis, be aware of your surroundings. Ensuring that you are in a location where you feel comfortable while experiencing a new form of intoxication can help ensure a positive experience.
Prepare yourself for the effects: you might find your body feeling lighter, or more relaxed
Finally, if you do find yourself teetering between “just right” and “Way too High,” keep in mind that no matter how miserable you might feel, you are definitely not going to die. Try and relax a bit by going outside for some fresh air, breath through any sick feelings and if you can, just go to sleep.
